Chapter 92
[So let me get this straight. Three demon kings are after that girl, and we have to protect her and get her all the way to the Rocky Mountains of Talhaim? That’s what you’re saying?]
“More or less.”
The moment I finished explaining, Kon let out a dry, incredulous laugh.
[Hey. Amael. Freeze time for a second.]
“Why?”
[Just do it.]
I did as he asked.
The world stopped. Everything froze—except me.
[There. That’s it. You’re done. Just carry the girl and head straight to the Rocky Mountains. That’s the end of it. Your power is ridiculously overpowered. You don’t even need to bother worrying about fights.]
He’s not wrong.
If we avoid combat entirely, that’s obviously the safest route.
[Sure, fighting shows off your male pride and all. I get it. You want to impress the girl with your manly instincts. But come on—three demon kings? You could end up with something worse than death.]
“You’re right. That would be the smartest, safest move.”
[Exactly! What kind of lunatic chooses to fight gods?]
“The problem is… the demon kings already know what I can do.”
There’s no way they don’t.
They’re fully aware that the easiest, most efficient way to get Kanya to Talhaim is for me to carry her under time-stop.
And if they know that much…
Then it’s almost guaranteed they’ve cooked up some kind of countermeasure.
I can’t afford to assume they’ll just sit back and let me freeze time unchecked.
“I need to prepare for the worst. If time-stop gets blocked somehow, I need to at least be able to fight off their followers.”
[I hope it doesn’t come to that… but you’re not wrong. Ugh. I don’t like this. I’ve fought all sorts of creatures, but I’ve never fought a god before.]
“Didn’t you tell me you once broke through monster nests, other male unicorns, and an entire holy order just to mount one virgin mare? That sounds pretty alpha to me. But now you’re scared of this?”
[Scared?! It’s not fear, it’s… it’s just… look, we’re talking gods, Amael. You don’t treat them like regular enemies. They’re freaks of nature. Going up against three of them just to protect one girl? That’s insane.]
Kon bristled. I sighed quietly.
Logically, he was absolutely right.
Fighting three gods isn’t just stupid—it’s suicide.
But that’s exactly why I have to do it.
Because it’s impossible.
Because that’s how I can finally die.
“I fight all three, and then I die. That’s the goal, Kon. So I need your help.”
[Why the hell are you so obsessed with dying?! You maniac! I thought you were just talking crap at first, but you’re serious! This isn’t just dying! Fighting gods could obliterate your soul! Like, no reincarnation, no rebirth, no second life—nothing!]
I smiled.
“That’s exactly what I want.”
[Your goal… is soul annihilation? You want to disappear completely?]
“Yep. That’s the whole point.”
Because that’s the only way I can go back to Korea.
Kon fell silent for a long time.
[You’re the craziest bastard I’ve ever met. And I’ve met a lot of crazy bastards. Why the hell am I stuck with you?! I can’t even run away!]
“So? Are you going to help or not?”
He hesitated. Then finally sighed in surrender.
[If I had a body, I’d have bolted ages ago. But I don’t. So yeah, I’m stuck with you. Guess I don’t have a choice.]
“Great. Then let’s get to work. We’ll figure out new ways to apply my abilities. Even if time-stop gets taken off the table, I want to know how you can support me with everything else.”
[Wait a sec. You have other abilities?]
“Yeah. I’ve got Body Reconstruction, Absolute Hypnosis, and Sensory Amplification x3000.”
Kon burst out laughing like he’d heard the world’s dumbest joke.
[Those are all mating abilities!! You’re seriously going to take on three demon kings with a set of glorified sex powers?!]
Despite his griping, Kon ended up being super committed.
Apparently, wanting to not die was motivation enough. He helped me brainstorm tactical uses for every skill I had.
And so, in a world frozen by time—
We spent hours developing our battle strategy.
Morning.
[Amael. Kanya’s awake. You get up too.]
Groggy, I rubbed my eyes and sat up.
Across the room, Kanya was sitting on the bed, staring ahead with a blank expression.
“Kon, how’s your psychic energy holding up?”
[Do I look like you? I’m fine. That little workout didn’t even dent me.]
After yesterday’s extended strategy session in time-freeze, I’d hit mental exhaustion and passed out cold.
But Kon had stayed on watch through the night and was still going strong.
Honestly, it was kind of comforting.
I tapped the locket lightly twice in appreciation before walking over to Kanya.
“Kanya. How are you feeling?”
“…Fresh.”
She looked down at her frail, bony hands.
“That’s what feels strange. I’ve never felt this refreshed in my entire life…”
Her words stung more than I expected.
Maybe it was because I’d seen her life through the eyes of the monster who’d ruined it—so vividly, so horrifyingly real.
I gently patted her head.
“I’m sorry, but we have to move. We need to head straight for the mountains.”
She stared at me for a second, then gave a small nod.
She slowly stood up.
The clothes she was wearing were ones I had the innkeeper prepare last-minute for a young girl.
They were too loose—baggy pants dragging on the floor, sleeves so long her hands disappeared inside them.
Not that it mattered.
I had no intention of making her walk.
“Here. Get on.”
I kneeled and offered her my back.
“…Huh?”
“I’ll carry you. Just hop on.”
“…”
“We have to get to Talhaim, right?”
She hesitated briefly… then carefully climbed onto my back.
She was so light. So unnaturally thin and crooked that she felt less like a person and more like a broken tree branch.
I braced her legs with one hand and took a deep breath.
This is the beginning.
Kanya is heading toward salvation.
And I’m heading toward death.
“Kanya.”
“Yes?”
“From here on out, a lot of things won’t make sense. I won’t have time to explain everything, and even if I did, it wouldn’t be easy to understand. But remember one thing—I’m on your side. Got it? You have to trust me. Can you do that?”
I couldn’t see her expression behind me.
But judging by how tightly she clutched the collar of my coat, she wasn’t saying no.
“…Okay. I don’t really have any other options, do I?”
“Good. Then—let’s go.”
“Yes.”
“Kon—”
[I’m ready. Do it.]
I pulled a gold ingot from the coin pouch at my hip and placed it gently on the bed.
The innkeeper was a good person.
Despite how he looked, he’d been kind—too kind. So much so that he insisted on summoning a priest from the Church of Grace to help. I had no choice but to lightly nudge his mind with Absolute Hypnosis.
He went through a lot because of me. It was only right I compensated him properly.
Once payment was settled, I activated Time Stop.
The world fell into silence.
Only three beings remained in motion: myself, Kon, and Kanya on my back.
“W-What is this? What did you just do? How is the whole world…?”
“Kanya. I’m sorry. I can’t explain this part right now. Please… just trust me, okay?”
What was I supposed to say? That this was the divine power of Asmodeus?
Not to someone who spent her entire life being tortured by demon lords.
She gripped my collar tighter.
“…Okay.”
Thankfully, she let it go.
And with Kanya on my back, I began to run—through a world frozen in time.
“P-Please, just a little slower—”
“Three demon kings are after us. We don’t know when they’ll strike. If they don’t, great. But if they do, we can’t afford to be late. I’m sorry. Please hang in there.”
At my words, Kanya wrapped her arms tightly around my torso, pressing herself firmly against my back.
Once I felt she was secure, I picked up speed.
[Please… please let us get to the mountain without incident.]
“I second that, Kon.”
[No surprises. No surprises, please. I beg you.]
Despite the tension, I laughed. His voice cracked with anxiety.
“You’ve laid with over a thousand virgin mares and single-handedly wiped out over 50 crusades, and you’re scared now?”
[Fighting three gods isn’t just a normal job! Of course I’m scared! They’re divine beings, Amael! Please, please let this time-stop hold. Let them not notice. Please… just this once.]
“Yeah… I hope so too.”
We passed the edge of the town and entered open wilderness.
I used full lightfoot technique, speeding across the earth.
No one said a word—
Not Kanya, not Kon, not even me.
Time-frozen silence was deafening.
What would normally be peaceful now felt like the breathless pause before a war.
We kept running, nonstop, for nearly an hour.
Gone were the signs of civilization.
No people. No voices. Just a vast, empty plain.
And then—
[Warning!!]
[High-level interference detected!]
[Divine authority… being restricted—]
A red system alert blared violently.
Suddenly, the time-frozen field around us warped—expanding into a massive dome.
It grew, then stopped abruptly.
And from the space directly in front of me, a split formed in the air—like a tear in reality.
From it… came people. A lot of people.
I had no choice but to stop.
[Damn it! Amael! How’s your power?!]
I quickly tried to activate Time Stop.
It worked.
But it was far from perfect.
“I can still use it—but it’s limited to a small area. And I can’t cancel the time-stop dome outside this space either.”
[So in other words… we’re trapped.]
“Exactly.”
[Shit!! What about your other skills?!]
I checked them.
Thankfully, the other three were still operational.
“They’re fine.”
[Heh… it’s just like we predicted yesterday, huh? Lucky us. So goddamn lucky.]
Kon’s voice trembled.
He wasn’t alone.
“Jericho…”
Kanya’s voice, muffled behind me, was also shaking.
And truthfully… so was I.
From the rift spilled nearly a hundred men.
Six black mages.
The rest—all armed. Bolt-action rifles, machine guns, pistols… even grenades that looked like they were from World War I.
But most frightening of all… were the three men standing at the front.
No firearms.
Just blood-red plate armor and a single longsword each.
Their presence was overwhelming.
There was no way out of this.
I gently lowered Kanya to the ground.
“Kon. I need you.”
[Got it.]
Our bodies were slowly wrapped in something.
“W-What are you doing…?”
“Armor, Kanya.”
Kon used his surplus psychic energy to construct finely-tuned time-stasis barriers around our bodies.
More precise than anything I could do alone.
This would at least serve as basic armor.
“Stay back. Lie flat. Hide as best you can, okay?”
She nodded and dropped to the ground without question.
Once I confirmed she was secure, I stepped forward.
[Ready?]
“Do it.”
At that moment, I cast three skills simultaneously.
Kon instantly took over, fine-tuning each one.
[Activating: Body Reconstruction, Sensory Amplification ×3000, Absolute Hypnosis.]
[Unlocking post-level-up features.]
[Reflexes enhanced x3000.]
[Muscle and bone reinforcement complete.]
[Cognitive boost via hypnosis engaged.]
My body responded violently to the changes—overheating as steam poured through my clothes.
[That’s it. Amael. You’re up now. I told you—I’m only support!]
“Thanks, Kon.”
I clenched my fist—and felt overwhelming power surge and vanish in a blink.
This… would work.
The three armored knights ahead of me drew their swords in unison.
“We offer your skull to the Demon Lord of Wrath.”
Black mana shimmered across their blades.
I raised my hand.
“Make it.”
Kon shaped Time Stop into a weapon—
A massive war hammer.
A blunt, crushing beast of a weapon made from frozen time itself.
I gripped the hammer in my right hand.
[This is suicide, Amael.]
“I know.”
Cold sweat trickled down my spine—
But a smile tugged at my lips.
“Let’s die, Kon.”
[Just you! I don’t wanna dii—!!]
My foot slammed the ground.
And in the next instant—
My Time Hammer shattered one knight’s skull into bloody fragments.
